Route 50, stretching from West Sacramento to Maryland’s Ocean City, carries more than just travelers– it carries a unique piece of highway history. Sometime between the late 1970s to early 1980s, Ocean City officials installed a sign marking the eastern termination of US 50, proudly displaying the distance to Sacramento (3,073 miles) as a nod to the highway’s distant beginning on the West Coast.

Redfin, a leading national real estate brokerage, has compiled a list of the “Hottest Neighborhoods in 2025.” This list is based on an analysis that ranks U.S. zip codes within the 150 most populous metro areas, utilizing year-over-year growth in listing views on Redfin.com and the Redfin Compete Score– an indicator of how competitive it is to secure a home in these areas. One Maryland city made it on the list.

Metrorail will open at 5 a.m. on Sunday, April 6, to provide early service for the Cherry Blossom 10-Mile race, with all lines running normal service and additional guidance for accessing the race start and finish locations.

After more than 90 years of service in Ocean City, MD, Alaska Stand on 9th Street announced last month that it will be closing its doors. In a message to the community, the owners expressed their gratitude for the cherished memories created at the 9th Street Boardwalk location and confirmed that Thrasher’s Fries will take over the space. Two juveniles were arrested in Gaithersburg after allegedly burglarizing a gun store in Springfield, VA, where they used a vehicle to ram the entrance and steal multiple firearms before fleeing into Maryland. Montgomery County Police, with assistance from Fairfax County detectives and Gaithersburg Police, apprehended the suspects, recovered multiple stolen firearms, and continue to search for a third suspect.
