The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Cold Case Unit charged 82-year-old Rodger Zodas Brown with the 1979 murder of Kathryn Donohue in Glenarden, MD, following advancements in forensic genetic genealogy. Brown, who lived in Hyattsville at the time of the crime, was arrested in North Carolina and faces extradition to Prince George’s County on charges of first-degree murder, rape, and related offenses. Maryland State Police arrested Harriet Penniman Van Kleeck, 63, of Towson, MD, for suspected impaired driving after she struck a state trooper’s patrol vehicle on I-695. The trooper, who was inside the vehicle with emergency lights activated, was taken to a hospital and later released, while the investigation remains ongoing.

Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced that Aqua Vision Care, LLC agreed to pay $143,336 to resolve allegations of submitting false Medicaid claims for vision services not provided. The settlement includes $71,668 in restitution for unprovided services and a $71,668 civil penalty.

A Burtonsville woman, dubbed “Lucky Lady,” claimed a $50,000 Powerball prize on St. Patrick’s Day, after realizing she had won from the October 2024 drawing. James Brunson, 41, and Ernest Hudson, 38, were sentenced for leading a violent drug trafficking organization in Baltimore, following a 16-month investigation by the Maryland Attorney General’s Organized Crime Unit. A total of 33 individuals were charged in connection with the organization, with several already sentenced for crimes related to drug distribution, firearms offenses, and participation in a criminal organization. Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports and famous for his “One Bite” pizza reviews, visited Frank’s Pizza & Pasta at 6620 Belair Rd in Baltimore earlier this year to sample their offerings. Since his visit, customers have been lining up down the block before the restaurant opens, eager to savor the pizza and cheesesteak that Portnoy rated so highly.

On Friday, Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced that Racquel Britt Davis, 51, was sentenced by Judge Robert E. Cahill, Jr. for felony theft after submitting 18 fraudulent claims for short-term disability and accident supplemental insurance while employed as a correctional officer, and she has been ordered to pay $50,251.66 in restitution.

Tramell Tillman, a native of Maryland, has emerged as one of the stars of Severance, an acclaimed Apple TV series directed by Ben Stiller. The show revolves around a team of office workers who have undergone a surgical procedure to separate their memories of work and personal lives.
