In a remarkable debut at the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair, local resident and “renaissance woman” Angie Dobransky has made a name for herself by winning an impressive 12 ribbons across 12 different categories. For her first time entering the competition, Dobransky took home six first-place blue ribbons, two second-place ribbons, a third, two fourths, and a fifth, proving that curiosity and a passion for learning can pay off.

On October 2, 2024, Marty Fischer lost his father, Pat Fischer, to cancer. Pat was a legend– a former NFL player who played 17 years in the league, with 10 of those years right here with the Washington Redskins. He was known as a relentless and fearless cornerback, a member of the team’s Ring of Fame, and a hero to many. But to Marty, he was just “Dad.” Now, Marty is turning his grief into action, stepping into the boxing ring to fight for his father’s memory and for everyone affected by cancer.

A Montgomery Village father is facing a long road to recovery after a brutal stabbing attack that occurred while he was walking with his young daughter. Joseph Love Carter was stabbed on the morning of July 31, 2025, near the 18300 block of Lost Knife Circle. The community has jumped in to help, creating a GoFundMe fundraiser to help him in his time of need.

American Field Services (AFS-USA) has announced that Ashton Veld, a high school student from Bethesda, Maryland is one of 210 American high school students to be awarded the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) scholarship for the 2025-2026 academic year. CBYX is a bilateral exchange program co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and German Bundestag (Parliament).

The Mount Airy community is mourning the tragic loss of a 13-year-old boy, Mason, who was swept into a drainage pipe and killed during a flash flood on Thursday, and is now rallying to support his grieving family, having raised over $6,000 in two hours.
