Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were dispatched to the 7100 block of Blanchard Drive in Derwood on Thursday morning for a reported drowning.

According to MCFRS spokesperson David Pazos, upon arrival, crews found an adult male in cardiac arrest. Firefighters and paramedics initiated aggressive CPR and advanced life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, the man could not be resuscitated.

The Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCASAC) at 7315 Muncaster Mill Rd. in Derwood has fully restored air conditioning following a mechanical failure that caused rising temperatures inside its near-capacity facility. The issue, caused by a failed motor in the building’s cooling system, was resolved by the Department of General Services (DGS). With the system now fully operational, the shelter has ended its emergency response efforts and resumed normal operations. (more…)
