The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) is hosting its 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb in Gaithersburg as a way to honor and remember the FDNY firefighters who selflessly gave their lives so that others might live on September 11, 2001. The event will take place at Sportrock Climbing Center (9811 Washington Boulevard) in Gaithersburg’s Rio Lakefront on Wednesday, September 11th with an 8am opening ceremony.
The City of Gaithersburg is presenting “Pull Up A Chair 2.0,” a special exhibition at the Arts Barn. The exhibit is aimed at addressing mental health and wellness through art and will be on display through October 6, 2024.
Alert Montgomery has sent out a Severe Traffic Alert stating, “Traffic incident closes Russell Ave at Montgomery Village Rd(MD 124). Expect significant delays. Seek alternate route.”

In April we let you know that Copper Canyon Grill is requesting approval for a 1,012 square foot covered dining pier to be located on the RIO Lake (100 Boardwalk Place). “The Barge” is now in its soft launch phase. A video can be seen below.
Earlier this year we let you know that TOUS les JOURS, a French-Asian bakery will be taking over the space currently occupied by Corner Bakery in Rio. Corner Bakery’s last day of business in Rio was Thursday, February 22nd. Exterior construction has begun and it has included the removal of the clock that was part of the Corner Bakery decor for more than 25 years.
