On Wednesday, March 26, Jersey Mike’s Subs will donate 100% of its sales—expected to exceed $25 million—to over 200 local charities as part of its 15th Annual Day of Giving. Two juveniles were arrested in Gaithersburg after allegedly burglarizing a gun store in Springfield, VA, where they used a vehicle to ram the entrance and steal multiple firearms before fleeing into Maryland. Montgomery County Police, with assistance from Fairfax County detectives and Gaithersburg Police, apprehended the suspects, recovered multiple stolen firearms, and continue to search for a third suspect.

In June 2023 we let you know that the owners of The Lube Center on Fields Rd. in Gaithersburg (WLR Automotive) were looking to open a car wash in the space that was home to Ziki Japanese Steakhouse until 2020. This past summer, WLR Automotive Group requested schematic development plan approval for an approximately 5,106 square-foot car wash facility, and a joint public hearing was held on March 17th.

AstraZeneca, which has a significant presence in Montgomery County with a large scientific campus/base in Gaithersburg and a new manufacturing facility in Rockville, has agreed to acquire EsoBiotec– a biotech company specializing in innovative cell therapies, for up to $1 billion.

A federal grand jury has indicted Brendyn Andrew, 33, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, charging him with aggravated identity theft, supplemental nutrition assistance program (SNAP) benefits fraud, social security number misuse, and theft of government property. The defendant will have an initial appearance today at 4:30 p.m., in U.S. District Court in Greenbelt before U.S. Magistrate Judge Gina L. Simms.
