Montgomery County recently honored dozens of public safety professionals at the 51st Annual Public Safety Awards, recognizing acts of valor, lifesaving service, teamwork, and dedication across multiple agencies. The event, cohosted with the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, brought together local, state, and federal leaders who praised first responders for their courage and commitment to protecting the community, especially in high-risk and emergency situations.

The Montgomery County Council’s ECON Committee will meet March 23 at 9:30 am to review Bill 7-26, which would clarify that agricultural permitting exemptions include farm business operations and product processing. The bill aims to reduce regulatory burdens but would still require permits for buildings where the public consumes food or beverages.

Montgomery County Police released a roundup Thursday of notable incidents reported March 18 across the county, including an aggravated assault arrest involving a knife on a Ride On bus, an attempted armed robbery and stabbing of a juvenile, multiple auto thefts, school threats and a hate-bias vandalism case.
