The Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP) will offer its 2025 Holiday SoberRide program from December 19 through January 1, providing adults in the Washington-metropolitan area with free Lyft rides home (up to $15) between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. to help prevent impaired driving during a high-risk period for alcohol-related crashes.

The County Council announced upcoming public hearings in January, including a Jan. 13 session on a proposed $2.4 million supplemental appropriation for the Public Safety Joint Operations Center and an expedited bill that would strengthen immigrant protections within County government.

MCPD Update: “The two-vehicle collision on Good Hope Rd. is now being investigated as a fatality. One adult male pronounced dead on scene. An adult male and juvenile in the second vehicle, transported with non-life-threatening injuries. Good Hope Rd. remains closed at this time.”

A serious traffic collision with entrapment shut down a portion of Good Hope Drive in Silver Spring (between Cloverly and Colesville) Tuesday morning, prompting a large emergency response and significant traffic delays.
