The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin a resurfacing project on MD 28 (Norbeck Road) between MD 586 (Veirs Mill Road) and Bauer Drive in the city of Rockville tonight. Weather permitting, all work is expected to be complete by the end of the month.

Montgomery County held its seventh annual Pride Flag Raising Ceremony in Rockville to kick off Pride Month, joined by local officials, Congressman Jamie Raskin, and LGBTQ+ community leaders. The event featured keynote speakers from Montgomery County Public Schools and the MoCo Pride Center, and also marked the launch of this year’s “Ride With Pride” bus, which will run throughout June to celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community. Montgomery County has announced two free fireworks celebrations: Germantown Glory on Friday, July 4 at South Germantown Recreational Park and Mid-County Sparkles on Saturday, July 5 at Albert Einstein High School, both starting at 7 p.m. with live music and fireworks set for 9:15 p.m. In addition to the Montgomery County government events, fireworks will also take place at Gaithersburg’s SummerFest on Saturday, June 28 at Bohrer Park and at Rockville’s Independence Day Celebration on Friday, July 4 at Mattie J.T. Green Bamboo Asian Bistro, located at 5751 Fishers Ln. in Rockville, MD, has permanently closed its doors. Known for its relaxed, family-run ambiance, the bistro delighted diners with an array of Japanese, Chinese, and Thai dishes. One of its most celebrated attractions was the popular weekend special– 50% off sushi. A new restaurant will soon be taking its place.

Back in October, we shared that Trader Joe’s would be opening at 225 N. Washington St. in Rockville Town Square, taking over the former Dawson’s Market space, which closed last summer after twelve years. Recently, Rockville Mayor Monique Ashton posted a photo of the grocery store nearly completed, and an employee from a nearby location indicated that a mid-June opening is possible.
