Qamaria Yemeni Coffee is set to open its first Maryland location with an upcoming store in Laurel. Though an exact location has not been announced, we’ve been told that it will be near Laurel Regional Hospital (7300 Van Dusen Rd.) with an opening expected by the end of the year.
Brew Belly at 18065 Georgia Ave in Olney has announced it will be holding its annual “Cheesesteak Eating Contest” on Thursday, July 4. The winner of the contest will win free cheesesteaks from the restaurant for one year. (more…)
Did you know the bar that invented the Buffalo wing has a location in Maryland? Anchor Bar, the originator of the iconic dish, opened its Frederick location at 5605 Spectrum Drive in 2019. Construction is progressing at the upcoming Kensington Crossing shopping center, located at 10619 Connecticut Avenue (at Plyers Mill Road). A couple of years ago, a decision was made to rename the center to “Crossroads in Kensington,” and all five tenants have now signed on.

Back in June 2023, we let you know that Marathon Deli signed on to open a new location at the upcoming Crossroads at Kensington shopping center on the corner of Connecticut Avenue and Plyers Mill Rd. The restaurant has received its permit to begin interior construction and could be ready to open later this year.

Piccoli Piatti has just installed permanent signage at its upcoming restaurant at Westbard Square (5400 Westbard Ave. Bethesda, MD). An opening date is not yet available, but the restaurant appears to be close to opening.

On Saturday, we participated in Lone Oak Brewery’s 5th birthday celebration, featuring food trucks Grubbing Hard BBQ and Jimmy’s Famous Seafood. Jimmy’s has previously been named the best Crabcake in the country by Food & Wine and ranked #1 in Maryland by us here at The MoCoShow. We asked 30 customers who ordered a crabcake or crabcake sandwich to rate it from 1 to 10.
