The McDonald’s located at 11564 Rockville Pike in North Bethesda has permanently closed, with signage removed on Thursday morning. A new McDonald’s is set to open at 11710 Rockville Pike, the former site of Arby’s (construction photos below).
Gaithersburg is now home to Upcycled, a unique, family-run business that opened on January 1, 2025, at 18959 Bonanza Way. This “hybrid concept” combines a vintage and pre-loved fashion store with a cozy coffee shop offering a variety of iced and hot lattes. (more…)

In 2024, Business Insider recently published a list of the best sandwich shops in every state according to Yelp, and Full On Craft Eats & Drinks was named the best in Maryland. Michelle Houser Harris, co-owner, chef, and manager at Full On Craft was a contestant on season 14 of the Fox reality show Hell’s Kitchen back in 2015.

Back in October we let you know that Trader Joe’s is set to open at 225 N. Washington St. in Rockville Town Square taking over the former Dawson’s Market space, which closed this past summer after twelve years. The Grocery store recently gutted the interior and construction is now in the early stages at the upcoming location (photos below).
Montgomery County’s Department of Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) is bringing its “upgraded retail concept,” Oak Barrel & Vine, to Westfield Wheaton Mall (11160 Veirs Mill Rd.).
Earlier this month, Party City announced it is closing all of its locations. Locally, Party City has stores in Gaithersburg, Rockville, and Wheaton, and all stores have recently begun their closing sales.
This past summer we let you know that EDENS/Burtonsville Crossing has announced that “Playa Bowls will bring never ending summer to Burtonsville Crossing with delicious smoothies, açaí bowls, cold brews, and juices.” The shop owners were recently issued a $250k permit to construct the interior.
