The Washington Metro is known for its engineering feats, and while the Wheaton station holds the distinction of having the longest single-span escalator in the Western Hemisphere, the system’s elevators boast impressive records of their own. At Forest Glen (located in Silver Spring, Maryland), riders take the longest elevator trip in the DC Metro system… a vertical rise of 196 feet.
Cynthia Adarkwa, a writer-producer on HBO Max’s hit medical drama The Pitt, took home an Emmy last night as part of the show’s Outstanding Drama Series win, an honor with a Montgomery County connection. Adarkwa is a Montgomery Blair High School alum (Class of 2006).
A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Beach Drive between Knowles Avenue and Grosvenor Lane in Bethesda on Monday evening, and the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the cause. (more…)

The Leesburg Police Department (LPD) is investigating a hit and run crash in which a pedestrian was struck while in a crosswalk. A Montgomery County man has been arrested for the crime.

Quince Orchard and Stone Bridge, two of the region’s most decorated programs, are set to meet for the third time in as many years. QO owns the first two clashes, but anyone who’s watched knows the margin has been razor-thin. Both contests were decided by defense, field position, and the occasional big play.
