The Washington Metro is known for its engineering feats, and while the Wheaton station holds the distinction of having the longest single-span escalator in the Western Hemisphere, the system’s elevators boast impressive records of their own. At Forest Glen (located in Silver Spring, Maryland), riders take the longest elevator trip in the DC Metro system… a vertical rise of 196 feet.

Cynthia Adarkwa, a writer-producer on HBO Max’s hit medical drama The Pitt, took home an Emmy last night as part of the show’s Outstanding Drama Series win, an honor with a Montgomery County connection. Adarkwa is a Montgomery Blair High School alum (Class of 2006).

Quince Orchard and Stone Bridge, two of the region’s most decorated programs, are set to meet for the third time in as many years. QO owns the first two clashes, but anyone who’s watched knows the margin has been razor-thin. Both contests were decided by defense, field position, and the occasional big play. This time, the Bulldogs may be bringing their most dangerous group yet.
