The Montgomery County community is rallying to support the family of Taeyon Malachi Prather, an 18-year-old Gaithersburg resident whose death is being investigated as a homicide. According to the Montgomery County Police Department, officers were called around 7:21 p.m. on Friday, January 2, to the 23600 block of Rolling Fork Way near Damascus after Fire and Rescue responded to a report of a person down and found Prather suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Three Montgomery County Public Schools in upper Montgomery County remained closed Monday, Dec. 15, even as the school system as a whole operated on a Code Yellow two hour delayed opening.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded at 4:35 a.m. to the 26100 block of Mullinix Mill Road in Damascus after a 911 caller reported a large outside field fire with power lines down next to a home. Firefighters arrived to find the field fire had extended into the house, with flames in the attic and a bedroom. (more…)
