MoCo Police

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, December 15, 2021

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating the December 9 armed robbery that occurred in the 3000 block of Briggs Chaney Road. Detectives have released surveillance video of the suspects and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying them.


Bethesda

Nando’s Peri Peri has let us know that the last day of business for its Bethesda location (4839 Bethesda Ave) will be this Saturday, December 18th. Federal Realty recently announced that Madewell will be moving in to the location in 2022.

Nando’s is a South African fast-casual chain that specializes in flame-grilled peri-peri style chicken. The restaurant was founded in Johannesburg in 1987, and now operates over 1,200 outlets in 30 countries.


Beyond MoCo

The Howard County Public School System announced in a letter to the community this morning that an alarming increase in Covid-19 cases (300 positive tests in the last 3 days) has led the school system to suspend the following activities through January 15th, 2022.

HCPSS will re-evaluate on January 7th, 2022 to determine if an extension is necessary.

Silver Spring

Dog Haus Biergarten at 933 Ellsworth Dr. in Downtown Silver Spring will be hosting a “6lbs of Dog Haus in Your Face Challenge” with Raina Huang (@rainaiscrazy on Instagram) this Saturday at 1PM.

Haung will attempt to eat a six pound assortment of various Dog Haus dogs, sausages, and burritos in less than 20 minutes.


DC Sports

Almost a third of the Washington Football Team has been placed on the team’s Covid-19 list, which is now up to 18 players after 8 players were added earlier this afternoon.


Potomac

Collins + Co. has announced that Kruba Thai will be coming to Park Potomac in the second quarter of 2022. It will be taking over the former Wine Harvest location at 12525 Park Potomac Ave B.

Kruba currently has a location at 301 Water St. near Nationals Park in Washington, DC. Their menu features sushi and traditional Thai dishes such as Panang and Drunken Noodles.


MCFRS

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue responded to a fire at Crisp & Juicy at 1331-G Rockville Pike on Wednesday morning.

The fire is reported to have been in the duct work of the building and the bulk of the fire has been knocked down, according to MCFRS Spokesperson Pete Piringer.


Athletes

MCPS has released new guidelines for school athletic programs, including an updated policy stating that student athletes must wear masks while sitting on the sidelines/benches.

According to WTOP, under the new guidance, all games and practices will be put on hold for a team for 14 days from the last know exposure if there are five or more active cases amongst the team.
