MCPD Update: “At approximately 9:46 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to Long Branch Local Park in the 700 block of Langley Drive, for reports of shots fired. Officers located two adult males with apparent gunshot wounds near the rear of the basketball court by the playground.

One victim was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. His current status has not been confirmed. Despite life-saving efforts, the second victim was pronounced dead at the scene. At this time, no suspect information is available and no arrests have been made. A news release will be distributed once more information is available, including the name of the decedent, following proper next-of-kin notification.” (more…)

The 11th annual Montgomery County “Friendship Picnic” will again bring people of many cultures and faiths together to celebrate the County’s diversity. The free picnic, whose goal is to enable people to make new friends and build a stronger community, will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14, at Wheaton Regional Park.

Rockville

Visitors to, and those driving by, Rockville Town Center will now be greeted by a bold new look on the pedestrian bridge over Rockville Pike. On Thursday, the City of Rockville’s Department of Public Works (DPW) Operations Maintenance staff installed large window decals spelling out “Town Center” with the city’s new signature branded “R”.

Gaithersburg

A New Mexico resident visiting his son in Maryland won a $50,000 Powerball prize after purchasing the winning ticket at the Safeway on Goshen Road in Gaithersburg, matching four white balls and the red Powerball in the August 27 drawing. Full story below courtesy MD Lottery:

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is asking for the public’s help identifying a man who may have been in or near the Wayne Avenue Garage on December 21, 2022, as investigators believe he could have information relevant to an ongoing homicide investigation. (more…)


Clarksburg

The horse has been reunited with its owners and is unharmed, per an update on various Lost Pets groups.

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) 5th District officers responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a horse in the 25000 block of Burnt Hill Road in Clarksburg on Friday afternoon and report that the horse ran off and may be injured. We are currently working to confirm an address for the crash. (more…)
