Montgomery County Councilmembers have introduced a bill that would require labor peace agreements for hotel development projects in which the County has a financial interest, aiming to prevent labor disputes that could impact revenue and public-private partnerships.

Burtonsville

Burtonsville is bidding farewell to two local icons: Burt the Inflatable Mattress Man and the big red barn that has long been a part of the community’s landscape. This memorable send-off will be led by local personalities Alex Tsironis (Mr. MoCo) and Dave Golden of Burtonsville 2.0 on Facebook, who will host the event at the Mattress Liquidators and old 7-Eleven parking lot on Saturday, June 28th from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.

“Remember that guy who used to paint at Rio?” Many do. If you walked through Rio in Gaithersburg between 2000 and 2016, you likely saw George Petridis working on one of his beautiful paintings, with many of his other works on display in the atrium just outside the movie theater. For more than 15 years, Petridis showcased his art and continually crafted new pieces, often interacting with those who stopped to appreciate his work amid the bustle of the Rio crowd.

Maryland

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) will introduce its new online licensing system, MD Outdoors, on June 24, MDNR shared on Wednesday. This centralized system replaces the current system, COMPASS. MD Outdoors will continue to offer products for all outdoor activities, including all Maryland hunting and fishing licenses and associated stamps and permits, boat and off-road vehicle renewal registration, and other services.
