Bethesda’s Wildwood Shopping Center, Located at 10241 Old Georgetown Road, will transform into a hub of style, creativity, and community this September with a weekend full of shopping, entertainment, and special events. The Fall Vintage and Artisanal Market takes place on Saturday, September 27, from 11am  to 4 pm, while shoppers can also enjoy exclusive sales throughout the center from Friday, September 26 through Sunday, September 28.

Montgomery County’s own comic and cosplay festival, RisuCon, will return on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The convention will run from 10am to 8pm and promises a full day of activities celebrating anime, comics, cosplay, and pop culture.

MCPS

The Education and Culture (EC) Committee will meet on Thursday, Sept. 11, at 9:30 a.m. to review the MCPS central office reorganization plan and receive an update on staffing and hiring. The reorganization, approved in June 2025, aims to direct more resources to schools and students, reduce 68.8 full-time positions and $5.9 million in expenses, while the staffing update will address vacancies, especially for special education and multilingual learner support roles. Wild Birds Unlimited, a popular nature specialty retail store, is preparing to open its first location in Montgomery County. The store will be located at 9735 Traville Gateway Drive in Rockville, taking over the space that was home to My Best Friend’s Closet for nearly a decade before it closed a couple of years ago.

Kensington

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will hold an onsite community meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Clearbrook Lane and Cedar Lane to discuss proposed pedestrian safety improvements within the one-mile walkshed of Kensington Parkwood Elementary School.
