Montgomery County, in partnership with local governments and organizations, will host its 28th annual Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown, featuring live performances, vendors, food, and community programming under the theme “Pushing Back – The Fight for Freedom is Not Over.” The festivities begin with the African American Living Legends Awards Ceremony on June 20, honoring residents over age 75 for their significant contributions to the county, as leaders emphasize the importance of preserving and celebrating African American history and culture. Education

Graduation season is here for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), with nearly 13,000 seniors set to receive their diplomas between Wednesday, May 28, and Thursday, June 12. Ceremonies will take place across various venues, including individual high school campuses, DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C., Xfinity Center in College Park, MD and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).

MCDOT

Redland Middle School in Derwood won first place in Montgomery County Department of Transportation’s “Paint the Plow” contest with a transportation-themed design titled “Life is a Highway,” part of Public Works Week recognizing the contributions of public works employees.
