Crime

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) arrested an adult male at the Wheaton Best Buy for possessing fake IDs. A follow-up investigation revealed he had been using stolen IDs to fraudulently buy and return goods nationwide, leading to the recovery of multiple stolen items. (more…)

The Butterfly Experience at Brookside Gardens is returning to Montgomery Parks this spring. Formerly known as Wings of Fancy, the exhibit is relaunching on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 10 a.m., and runs through Sunday, September 21, 2025. Advanced timed tickets go on sale Monday, March 3.

A Silver Spring man was sentenced to 26 years and 231 days in prison for two counts of second-degree assault and violating probation in a prior metrobus groping case. The defendant is a registered sex offender with a history of similar offenses, repeatedly assaulted a woman on public transit, leading to his arrest and maximum sentencing. (more…)
