Work continues on the Takoma Park Library and Community Center Redevelopment Project. Much of the work has moved indoors and is minimally affected by the snow and ice, but some work continues outdoors. The City of Takoma Park has shared some recent advances in the project:

On Thursday, February 20, Deputy First Class Roush of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) initiated a pursuit of a suspicious white Nissan that turned out to be stolen ended with the arrest of four suspects at Sheetz in Gaithersburg.
The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is investigating a fatal collision that occurred Friday evening in Poolesville.

Alert Montgomery has issued a ‘Severe Traffic Alert’ for a traffic incident that closes both directions of Whites Ferry Rd.(MD 107) between Sugarland and Partnership Rd.
Earlier today (Friday, February 21st), the Montgomery County Police Department’s (MCPD) 4th District officers responded to a burglary in progress in the 300 block of Hannes Street in Silver Spring.
Montgomery County officials, including the County Council, County Executive, and federal representatives, will hold a virtual community meeting on February 25 to support federal workers and residents facing uncertainty. According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s office, today in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, MD, Judge Terrence McGann sentenced Elvin Guzman-Machado, 20, of Boyds, to life in prison plus 40 consecutive years for his involvement in the 2022 MS-13 gang-related murder of 19-year-old Willians Anderson Alberto Cruz and for firing at three additional victims, two of whom were struck and survived.
