The City of Gaithersburg received a 2025 Maryland Sustainable Growth Award in the Policy Category for ‘Retool Gaithersburg.’ The award was presented by Governor Wes Moore on behalf of the Sustainable Growth Subcabinet. The Policy Award recognizes the adoption and implementation of public policies, regulations, and plans supporting sustainable land use planning and development practices.
Work begins on the Blue Line July 5 and on the Green Line Aug. 2. This year, Metro’s summer construction is shorter than prior years with two months of construction in two different parts of the region.

This Saturday, April 26th, Downtown Silver Spring comes alive with creativity and community spirit at the Spring Makers Market. The event runs from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM along Ellsworth Drive between Georgia Ave and Fenton Street.
Jamie McIntyre, former CNN military affairs and senior Pentagon correspondent, as well as former Washington Examiner senior writer for defense and national security, will speak about how the events on 9/11 and the aftermath ushered in a “post-truth” era in America. Jamie has written extensively on this topic and draws from a life-long career in journalism, including his time at the Pentagon on 9/11.

Come enjoy the day at our annual Washington Grove Arts and Craft Festival in a beautiful outdoor setting. This festival highlights local artisans including wood creations, pottery, visual art, household products and so much more.
