A Maryland court upheld a Final Order against Finish Werks Corp., its owner William Karl “Harris” Woodward, and related companies for over 800 violations of state consumer protection laws, requiring them to pay more than $955,000 in restitution and penalties and cease homebuilding activities unless a $700,000 bond is posted. Crime

Antoine Randall, 20, of Boyds, was sentenced to eight years in prison and five years of supervised probation for gross negligent manslaughter and other charges stemming from a 2023 police pursuit in Wheaton that resulted in a fatal crash.

HouseMouse Books is excited to announce the debut of Escape the Bookshop IV, our brand new limited-run escape room experience.

Escape the Bookshop games are always based on a real crime with connections to the DC region. They are designed and built by HouseMouse Books to be played in our atmospheric bookshop. This latest game was inspired by a true local museum theft and the goal is simple – to find the stolen object before the suspect flees the country!


Event

Butchers Alley is ten years old! To celebrate we’re throwing a can’t-miss cookout on Saturday August 29th from 11am-2pm. We’ll be grilling up free handcrafted burgers for the first 150 customers, tasting some of our favorite products and we’ve got a few fantastic raffle prizes for you like a $100 catering gift card, a free paella party for four and a butcher's pick bundle of our favorite cuts.

Beyond MoCo

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD), with assistance from the FBI, Interpol, and El Salvador National Police, arrested and extradited 58-year-old fugitive Jose Mauricio Rivera from El Salvador after over 27 years on the run; Rivera was wanted for attempted murder and assault in a 1997 Silver Spring shooting.

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is advising residents to report thefts from vehicles or vehicle tampering, remain vigilant during overnight hours, park in well-lit areas, lock doors, remove valuables, and watch for suspicious activity as thefts from autos and auto parts, including Honda airbag thefts, remain a concern. Located in the heart of downtown Bethesda at 4948 Fairmont Avenue, Beth’s will specialize in casual American food and drinks in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.  The name Beth’s is an ode to “Bethesda,” where owners Deniz and Celal Gulluoglu live and currently own and operate ala.
