Sandy Spring

The Adventure Park at Sandy Spring has been voted the Best Amusement Park and Climbing Venue in the DMV for the third consecutive year by readers of Washington Parent Magazine. The park was founded in 2010 and attracts around 100,000 annual visitors.

Clarksburg

CBS’s 48 Hours will air an episode this Saturday, October 5 at 10 p.m. on the death of Sarah Harris, initially reported as an overdose by her boyfriend, Dr. James Ryan, an oral surgeon in Germantown, MD. An investigation revealed evidence of Ryan providing powerful drugs to Harris, leading to his conviction and 45-year prison sentence on charges of second-degree depraved heart murder. Rockville

According to the City of Rockville, the office building at 12501 Ardennes Ave. in Twinbrook may be converted into a 181-unit residential multifamily building, with plans approved by the Planning Commission to add three stories and utilize the existing underground parking garage.

Beyond MoCo

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) are actively assisting in a search operation for a missing person presumed to have drowned in the Potomac River, in coordination with Frederick County authorities. The missing person is believed to have entered the water near Point of Rocks in Frederick County.

Montgomery Parks

Montgomery Parks’ Jennifer Scully, Regional Operations Manager and waterfowl aficionado has put her stamp of approval on the winner of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s 2024 Federal Duck Art Stamp Contest. Scully served as a judge for the prestigious national art contest, and with a panel of four peers selected this year’s winner, Adam Grimm of Wallace, South Dakota for his acrylic painting of a pair of spectacled eiders.
