Glenmont

A collision with entrapment caused delays this morning on Connecticut Ave and Isbell St. in Glenmont. The trapped occupant has been extricated and two patients with Priority 3, non-life-threatening injuries were evaluated by EMS, according to Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Pete Piringer. The collision occurred around 7:45am Friday morning and some lanes were blocked between Weller Road and Independence St.

Yesterday a collision occurred in close proximity at Connecticut Ave and Atherton Dr which resulted in five injured, including three juveniles, one with life-threatening injuries. That incident is currently under investigation. Police report below:


Poolesville

There was a critical off-road collision Wednesday evening around 7PM on the 15200 block of Partnership Road in Poolesville. Our Public Safety Correspondent Cordell Pugh reports that two juveniles were injured in a collision that occurred “well off the roadway.” One is reported to have sustained serious to critical injuries and was flown to shock trauma and one was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Fox 5’s Allison Papson reports that the teenagers were riding dirt bikes that collided. We will post an update when more information becomes available.


Restaurant

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to a fire at Eerkin’s Uyghur Cuisine at 1701 Rockville Pike # B1 in Rockville on Sunday morning around around 10am.  First responders arrived to the sprinkler/warer flow alarm going off and smoke coming from building.  According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS, the fire was located in the kitchen and has been put out. There were no injures reported and the building inspector and health department have been requested.

Bethesda

Rockledge Dr. is currently closed between Democracy Blvd. and Rock Spring Dr. in Bethesda after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle around 11:20am on Friday. Our Public Safety correspondent Cordell Pugh reports that an elderly pedestrian was struck and transported to a trauma Center with critical injuries.  Montgomery County Police are currently on the scene investigating, according to Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Pete Piringer. The pedestrian’s injuries are classified as Priority 1.

Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route and to expect significant delays. The incident occurred in the area of Walter Johnson High School, which is located on Rock Spring Dr. We will post an update when more information becomes available. 


Rockville

A Rockville juvenile has been arrested and charged with 2nd degree arson and 1st degree malicious burning after an extensive investigation connected the individual to a fire that occurred on October 21, according to Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Pete Piringer.  The fire occurred at an unoccupied commercial building that was undergoing construction/renovations on the 2300blk of Wootton Parkway near Hurley Ave in Rockville.

First responders were initially dispatched for a transformer fire and when firefighters arrived they found fire coming from the loading dock of the building. The fire was knocked down and no injuries were reported.


North Bethesda

Update: The pedestrian mentioned in this story has succumbed to his injuries. Montgomery County Police are now investigating.

Gaithersburg

A child was struck by a driver on East Diamond Ave at Melvin Street in Gaithersburg around 3:30pm on Tuesday afternoon. According to Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Pete Piringer, EMS transported one child with Priority 2 trauma.

East Diamond Ave is currently closed at Melvin Street. Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route and expect delays. We will post an update when more information becomes available.


Clarksburg

Clarksburg Road is closed between Barnesville Road and Ridge Oak Drive due to a vehicle fire, according to Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Pete Piringer. MCFRS responded to a fully engulfed DHL truck Monday night around 7:30pm. The delivery truck was empty and was disabled with mechanical issues.

The fire has been extinguished and there were no injuries reported. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes and expect delays. We will post an update when more information becomes available.


Rockville

On Wednesday, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue responded to a well engulfed vehicle on Route 28 in Rockville around 2:45pm.

According to Chief Spokesperson for MFCRS’ Pete Piringer, there were no occupants inside of the vehicle at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.


Silver Spring

Fenton Street at Colesville Road and Wayne Avenue was closed Wednesday morning around 9am due to a suspicious package in the area of Veterans Plaza, according to Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Pete Piringer.

MCFRS’ Bomb Squad assisted MCPD and after evaluating the situation and have given the ‘all clear’ after no hazards were identified.


North Potomac

A car was driven into a single-family house on High Meadow Drive in N. Potomac around 2pm on Monday afternoon.

There was damage to the vehicle, as well as structural damage to the home, according to Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Pete Piringer.  A building inspector has been notified.
