On Friday, October 25th, MCPS superintendent Jack Smith released his Recommended FY 2021 Capital Budget and the FY 2021-2026 Capital Improvements Program.

Beginning Friday, Oct. 25, Montgomery County Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) is discounting hundreds of items in each of its retail stores to make way for new products this holiday season. The clearance sale will run through Thanksgiving, ending with an additional Black Friday promotion on Nov. 29.
Rockville-based Snacklins landed a deal with Mark Cuban on last night’s episode of Shark Tank.
Back in May we broke the news of the possibility of MoCo’s first Royal Farms at the Spectrum at Watkins Mill development in Gaithersburg. In July we let you know of the plan including a new Starbucks location joining Royal Farms in the same development.
Deborah Anne Celmer has been located safe and unharmed!
Celmer was reported missing on October 14 by family members who were concerned for her welfare since she had not shown up at work for several days.
Ridgeview Middle School in Gaithersburg has added a lactation room for teachers.
As far as we know, it’s the first of its kind in MCPS school.
MCPS Superintendent Jack Smith has released his recommendation following the boundary study for some of MoCo’s upcounty high schools.
The study and recommendation affect Clarksburg, Northwest, and Seneca Valley High School.

Last year the Corned Beef King packed up and moved from Olney to Liberty gas station at Rockville Pike and Twinbrook. After almost a year and a half, Corned Beef King will be moving to a space inside of Dawson’s Market.
Dawson’s Market re-opened in Rockville Town Square under new ownership this past December after closing for two months.
A few months back we broke the news of Selva Brewing Co. taking over the Growlers location in Olde Towne Gaithersburg.
Yesterday we spoke with the folks over at Sardi’s (who founded Selva) and they told us they’re still a couple months away from opening.
Back in March we we spoke with Mandalay Restaurant & Cafe, a popular Burmese restaurant in Silver Spring, and were told they’d be closing the current location “soon” while looking for a spot to operate.
We were recently told that the restaurant will remain in its current location until the end of 2020.

We are sad to report that Barry Schwartz, one of the owners of B.J. Pumpernickels, passed away today.
For over 20 years BJ Pumpernickels in Olney served amazing sandwiches, breakfast all day, and had one of the best pickle bars in the area!
