Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – 2nd District Patrol Investigations Unit have arrested and charged Shikia Kenya Newell, age 38 for the July 2021 reports of fraud occurring in Silver Spring.
4 year old Iliana Hernandez of Silver Spring was killed in a crash that occurred a little after 10pm at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Dexter Avenue near the Forest Glen area in Silver Spring, police said in a press release on Monday.
A GoFundMe has been created to help Iliana’s family with funeral arrangements.

The Quarry House Tavern at 8401 Georgia Ave in Silver Spring will begin requiring its guests to show their vaccination cards or a negative COVID-19 test (taken within 48 hours) before entering the restaurant beginning on November 1.
Quarry House posted the following message on their social media accounts on Friday:
Montgomery a county a police have confirmed one person dead and multiple people injured after a crash on Georgia Avenue at Dexter Avenue in Silver Spring (Forest Glen) last night.
The crash occurred around 10pm last night and involved at least two children being transported to the hospital.
Underground Pizza Company is coming to 8235 Georgia Ave in Silver Spring (formerly Olazzo) later this year. Owner Evan Weinstein, a concert promoter and founder of Steez Promo, started Underground Pizza Company (UPC) last year after concert venues in the area closed their doors due to the pandemic.
Underground Pizza started selling their Detroit-style pizzas at local “pop-up” events that were marketed through social media. Costumers would pre-order pizzas and then meet at a designated location at specific times to pick up their order.
