Man Arrested for Committing Series of Burglaries After Crashing Stolen Chick Fil-A Delivery Vehicle

Throughout the course of the investigation, probable cause was obtained to identify Gipson as the suspect who burglarized the Whole Foods Market on Wayne Ave., Cava on Fenton St., Potbelly on Ellsworth Dr. and Chipotle on Fenton St.  The investigation has determined that Gipson forced entry into these businesses and stole an undisclosed amount of money and property.

Detectives applied for and obtained two arrest warrants, charging Gipson with several counts of burglary related charges. On June 28, 2022, Gipson was arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. Gipson was released on a $5,000 bond.

On July 6, 2022, at approximately 7:26 a.m., 4th District officers responded to a traffic collision involving a marked Chick-Fil-A delivery vehicle in the area of University Blvd. West at Hanes St. Gipson and the other two occupants, who were traveling in this vehicle, fled the scene but were quickly apprehended. Gipson and the other two occupants sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the collision and were transported to an area hospital.

Detectives reviewed the surveillance footage of the Chick-Fil-A on Fenton St. and determined that on July 6, 2022, at approximately 4:57 a.m., Gipson forcibly entered the restaurant and stole the key to the delivery vehicle. Gipson then stole the delivery vehicle parked outside the restaurant. The investigation also concluded that Gipson stole an undisclosed amount of money and property from Denizen’s Brewing Company on East West Hwy, Orangetheory Fitness on Fenton St. and Chick-Fil-A on Ellsworth Dr.

Gipson was arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was charged with auto theft and burglary related charges. He is being held without bond.

Detectives believe that there may be additional businesses that might have been burglarized by Curtis Gipson. Detectives are urging anyone who believes themselves to be a victim, to contact the 3rd District Investigative Section at (240)773-6870 or contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Callers can remain anonymous.
