New and Coming Soon to Burtonsville

Rendering by EDENS

There are a lot of changes coming to Burtonsville, starting with the renovated Burtonsville Crossing shopping center. A new grocery store, fitness center restaurants, and plenty of retail are coming to the upgraded  shopping center, but there’s plenty going on elsewhere too. Below we highlight things that are new to Burtonsville and a whole bunch that’s coming soon:

Barra Brava Cevicheria Peruana: Barra Brava opened in the location that was previously home to Old Hickory Grill at 15420 Old Columbia Pike B in Burtonsville. The menu consists of seafood entrees, a variety of ceviches, non-seafood entrees like lomo saltado, aji de gallina, and more. A video of the experience you can expect at the restaurant is available below.

Wawa: The gas station and convenience store has submitted plans to convert the current site of 7-Eleven (15585 Old Columbia Pike) and the adjacent Mattress Warehouse (15595 Old Columbia Pike) in Burtonsville into a Wawa. Wawa is a gas station and convenience store that also offers made-to-order food. The development application for Wawa was accepted by Montgomery Planning on Tuesday, November 21. Signage was placed on the site a few days back that reads “Development application for: Wawa Burtonsville.” If approved, this would be Montgomery County’s second Wawa, with its first likely opening within the next month in Gaithersburg.

Burtonsville Barbershop: The barbershop is under new ownership following the retirement of longtime owner Peter Kim. Peter Kim is a licensed master barber who has owned Burtonsville barbershop since 1994. He has also been described as “the nicest man in Burtonsville” by Burtonsville 2.0 admin Dave Golden- an honor many in the community agree with based on their interactions with Kim. He recently sold the shop and retired at the end of December.

Sprouts: Sprouts has set the dates for its Grand Opening weekend and celebration. The store’s first Montgomery County location at 15793 Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville will be hosting a three day event that will include plenty of promotions and even a party (1/19- 1/21). More here.

Domain Fitness & Performance: Domain Fitness & Performance is founded by local businessmen and former NBA players Jason Miskiri, David Vanterpool (NBA Assistant Coach, Portland Trailblazers and Brooklyn Nets/Associate Head Coach, Minnesota Timberwolves) and local sports and performance trainer Myron Flowers, who has trained leading elite local and national NFL and NBA athletes. Domain Fitness & Performance expects to open its 32,130 square-foot space in Burtonsville Crossing later this year. The club will offer a complete fitness experience with diverse offerings for all fitness levels–from youth to professional athletes–including personal training, fitness classes, and top-of-the-line equipment.

Moby Dick Kabob: Moby Dick House of Kabob signed on to join the redeveloped Burtonsville Crossing shopping center. This will be the Persian kabob restaurant chain’s 27th restaurant overall and 8th in Montgomery County, where it all started in 1989 with its Bethesda location. Moby Dick’s 7th MoCo location is coming soon to North Bethesda. The restaurant offers “authentic Persian food with a Mediterranean flair.” An opening date is not available, but it’s expected to be at some point in 2024.

Ulta: Ulta has signed on to bring a new store to Burtonsville Crossing. The company saw growth throughout 2022 and expects the same in 2023 with plans to open another 25 to 30 more new stores and provide facelifts to or relocate another 20 to 30, according to Ulta CEO Dave Kimbell.

TJ Maxx: Back in April we let you know that TJ Maxx, the discount department store that sells clothing, shoes, jewelry, and home décor would be one of Burtonsville Crossing’s new tenants in the revamped shopping center. Signage is now up at the upcoming location.

Eggspectation: Eggspectation left Montgomery County in September of 2020 after 15 years in Downtown Silver Spring. The restaurant plans to return this spring with its new location at the renovated Burtonsville Crossing shopping center (15701 Columbia Pike).

Chipotle: Chipotle has signed on as a tenant at the renovated Burtonsville Crossing shopping center.

Additionally, PNC Bank, My Eye Dr., and Allure nail salon have signed on at Burtonsville Crossing based on signage up at the shopping center.
