I don’t know when I’m going to have another night like this. So next time I’ll have to tell Trendon (Watford) to pass me the ball a little more.”

Remy Long and Tim Martin were born and raised in Montgomery County. The brother-in law duo created a Web 3.0 and NFT company called “Pandavinci Labs”. NFT stands for non-fungible token. It’s generally built using the same kind of programming as cryptocurrency, like Bitcoin or Ethereum, but that’s where the similarity ends. Physical money and cryptocurrencies are “fungible,” meaning they can be traded or exchanged for one another.

They duo has various NFT products in the works, including their collection called “MixTape Headz Society: Ukraine Edition”, which was released as an NFT charity auction to the public. 100% of the proceeds will go towards Ukraine relief efforts.

Glenmont

Tacos Don Perez started off as a small, family-run catering business back in 2017. It continued that way until may 2020, when it became a once-a-week home-based pop-up when the family was left without work due to Covid-19. The pop-up quickly gained support from the local community, as Tacos Don Perez sold out in a matter of hours every single week. With the support of their customers, the family was able to buy and custom build their own food truck, which is now located in the Glenmont shopping center.

The truck opened 6 days a week starting in April 2021 and was featured in a Washington Post article on birria tacos across the DMV. Now the family is preparing to open what they’re touting as “the biggest food trailer in Montgomery County.” On Saturday, March 19th they will be hosting a celebration that will include games, giveaways, and music.

Arts

Fleetwood Mac’s song “Silver Springs” is based on Silver Spring, MD. While many of us love Nicks’ music and the song itself, the title of the song could be one of the reasons people often add an ‘s’ to the end of our beloved Montgomery County… census designated place.

Primarily a British blues band at first, Fleetwood Mac scored a UK number one with “Albatross”, and had other hits such as the singles “Oh Well” and “Man of the World”.  In late 1974, while Fleetwood was scouting studios in Los Angeles, he heard American folk-rock duo Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, and asked Buckingham to be their new lead guitarist, and Buckingham agreed on condition that Nicks could also join the band.
