Bethesda

Some Montgomery County residents near the DC border were woken up by the Wireless Emergency Alert for Northeast DC’s Boil Water Advisory just after 2am this morning.

If you live in Montgomery County, you are not affected by this issue and should not boil any water this morning prior to using it.

Kensington

Capital Park Police’s Montgomery County Division is investigating multiple reports of deliberately placed hazards found along Beach Drive between Garrett Park Road and Knowles Avenue.

Since the month of July, officers have received five calls for service of reports for wooden boards with protruding nails/screws found along Beach Drive.

Germantown

August 32 opened its first MoCo location in October of 2019 in the Germantown Town Center. After just under two years, a closed sign was put up in the front door and paper went up on the windows. A text message confirmed that the restaurant had closed permanently.

They specialized in “tea, tea drinks, bubble tea, and tea-related products.” We reached out via phone and social media, but have not received a response regarding the closure.

Yirasai Sushi will be moving to Park Potomac, according to restaurant management.

Earlier today we spoke with a manager at Yirasai Sushi, located at 5110 Ridgefield Road in the Westwood Shipping Center in Bethesda, who told us that the tentative plan is to close to the current location later this year as they prepare to move in to the old Elevation Burger spot in Park Potomac that became available last month.

Germantown

It has been over a year and a half since we let you know that La Gula Mexicana would be taking over the old Agrodolce spot in the Milestone Center in Germantown (21030 Frederick Rd Suite J).

In our last update this past March, there wasn’t much progress in the interior, but we stopped by and things have definitely picked up (photos available below). It looks like the interior is nearly complete and the finishing touches were being placed on the outdoor patio.

MoCo

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) has been awarded a $450,000 grant by the Federal Transit Administration to create a Ride On Crowd Sourcing System (ROCSS) application that provides real-time bus status and passenger counts for Ride On routes to the public and MCDOT’s central dispatch. The new technology is the first to coordinate with strategically placed buses to assist routes nearing capacity and offer “How Full Is My Bus?” trip planning services.

This cutting-edge project is slated to begin this fall with a pilot of users from the Montgomery County Transit Advisory Group. Rollout to all riders is projected to begin in spring 2022.

Chevy Chase

MoCo’s first Amazon Fresh looks almost ready to go at Collection Chevy Chase next to the Friendship Heights Metro stop. The grocery store will be taking over the location that was previously home to Giant at 5463 Wisconsin Avenue.

The interior looked fairly close to being ready, but the exterior seems completely ready to go with signage up and shopping carts present at the grocery store (photos below). No opening date has been provided yet.
