At 12:22pm on Sunday afternoon, Alert Montgomery sent out a ‘Severe Traffic Alert’ for a “traffic incident that closes various lanes on Southbound Columbia Pike (US-29) to Stewart Ln. Expect significant delays. Seek alternate route.” This incident occurred in White Oak.

Maryland

As 2024 winds down, we wanted to share with you some of the most-read articles of 2024. This article was originally published on April 29th, 2024, when five Maryland restaurants were included in the New York Times’ “25 Best Restaurants in Washington D.C. Right Now” list published earlier this year. Four of the five Maryland restaurants included can be found in Montgomery County (photos of the Montgomery County restaurants below by @MrMoCo).

Maryland

A tavern established in 1750 in Annapolis (Anne Arundel County), a saloon that opened in 1775 (Baltimore), and an inn that opened its doors in Potomac in 1860 (Montgomery County) make up the three oldest restaurants in the state of Maryland that continue to operate today. Per Webster’s, a restaurant is a business place where meals or refreshments may be bought.

MCPS recently shared the news of Maya Mourshed, a student at Francis Scott Key Middle School in Silver Spring, who not only shines in STEM subjects but also expresses her passion for science through her writing as a young author. Mourshed recently published her debut book, Chemistories, where she melds her fascination with science and storytelling.
