Back in September we let you know that L&L Hawaiian Barbecue will open its first Maryland location right here in Montgomery County at 785 Rockville Pike, Suite G, in the Ritchie Center (Rockville). The restaurant will take over the space formerly occupied by Superbowl Noodle House, which permanently closed in March. Now we know the restaurant plans to open in January 2025 or sooner, according to the restaurant.

Boston Market closed its last remaining Montgomery County location at 3825 Aspen Hill Rd in Northgate Plaza (Aspen Hill) in October. The chain closed its Gaithersburg location back in April 2023 and also closed its White Oak location in early 2020. In Gaithersburg, JP Morgan Chase opened in the previous Boston market location just last month and now the replacement has signed on in Aspen Hill.

U.S. Soccer announced a historic gift today for its women’s and girls’ soccer programs from businesswoman, team owner, and women’s sports advocate Michele Kang. Kang has pledged to give U.S. Soccer, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, $30 million dollars over the next five years which is the largest philanthropic investment in U.S. Soccer’s women’s and girls’ programs and the most generous donation ever made to U.S. Soccer by a woman, according to a Washington Spirit press release.
