Update on Gregorio’s in Park Potomac

Gregorio’s Trattoria will begin renovations on its newest location at the former home of Sugo (12505 Park Potomac Ave), this fall and is hoping to open in around January, according to Store Reporter. This will be Gregorio’s Trattoria third MoCo location, and fourth overall. Sugo closed its doors permanently last summer. Park Potomac is also home to Attman’s Deli, Founding Farmers, Gringos & Mariachis, King Street Oyster, and Yirisai Sushi.

Gregorio’s started out in Reston in 2008 and opened a second location in what’s now Cabin John Village in Potomac. The restaurant opened its second MoCo location in November 2020 at the Shops at Sumner Place in Bethesda, in the spot that was home to China Pavilion for over two decades until it closed almost three years ago.

“After four years of organizing and advocacy for our County taxpayers, this is a big win for commuters, taxpayers and the environment. This decision reflects all the information Congressman Anthony Brown and I conveyed to Sec. Pete Buttigieg. I’m grateful to my Council colleagues, County Executive Marc Elrich and Planning Board Chair Casey Anderson, who have been consistent advocates for common-sense traffic solutions and community input. I am equally grateful to all the community members and stakeholders who have provided input and voiced their concerns throughout this process.

Update on Taco Bamba in Gaithersburg

The upcoming Taco Bamba location in Gaithersburg is now projecting to open this fall, although no opening date has been announced. The new restaurant will be located in the space that was formerly home to Urban Crawfish at 670 Quince Orchard Road, next to the recently opened Miyaji Kebab and Rumali Rolls (which is next to Beers & Cheers Too).

Taco Bamba had its hearing with Montgomery County’s Alcohol Beverage Services on June 2nd, for a “Class B, Beer, Wine and Liquor License, On Sale Only.” The restaurant was origin planning a June or July opening for the location.

Detectives Ask for Assistance in Locating Missing Fifteen-Year-Old

Tatum Tomlinson was last seen on Sunday, August 7, 2022, at approximately 9 a.m., in the 6700 block of Tomlinson Terr.

Tomlinson is 5-feet, 6-inches tall and weighs approximately 112 pounds. She has blonde hair and blue eyes and was last seen wearing a blue sweatshirt, white shorts and white sneakers. She has a nose ring and both ears are pierced. She was also carrying a large blue suitcase with wheels.

Governor Hogan Visits Several MoCo Businesses

On Friday, August 5, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan did a tour of Montgomery County, visiting several local businesses.  He started the day off  at the Glen Echo Fire Department, which is scheduled to undergo major renovations after receiving a state grant.  He then toured Maxim Biomedical on E. Gude Dr. in Rockville, one of the few companies that produce American-made COVID-19 rapid antigen tests, followed by a tour of Twin Valley Distillers, also on E Gude. Twin Valley was the first distillery to open in MoCo in over 100 years and owner Edgardo Zuniga tells us Twin valley was,  “honored having the Governor visit when he presented us a proclamation for small business in Maryland.”

Hogan then spent the afternoon in Poolesville visiting the Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary, McKee-Beshers Wildlife Management Area, and having lunch at the recently reopened Bassett’s Restaurant.

Virtual Hearing on the Proposed Abandonment of Right-of-Way on Kensington Boulevard in Wheaton to be Held on Thursday, Aug. 25

The applicant, managing member of Banc Realty, LLC, Dr. Bahram Nasehi, is seeking the abandonment of the public right of way to support the redevelopment of the surrounding area and prevent cut-through traffic from Veirs Mill Road through the 11300 Veirs Mill Road property parking lot. The right of way is approximately 70-feet wide, and 100-feet long from East Avenue to the petitioner’s property parking lot where the right of way dead ends.

Online registration is required by 5 p.m., Friday, Aug. 19 to attend. On the morning of the hearing, an electronic invitation to participate in this hearing will be emailed to you. The Boyds Transit Center project will provide a new bus loop and parking lot on the former Anderson property at the Boyds MARC station. This project will address the increased demand for commuter parking at the Boyds MARC station and the Ride On needs for future expansion of service from Clarksburg to the MARC station.

Antique and Classic Car Show Coming to Rockville in October

The City of Rockville has announced that an antique and classic car show will take place on Saturday, October 15, from 11am-3pm at the Glenview Mansion at Rockville Civic Center Park (603 Edmonston Dr., Rockville).

Registration for the 2022 show will open on Friday, July 1 and will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12. After this date, you can register at the show. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged; there will be very limited day-of registration spaces available. The show is open to vehicles 25 years and older. All vehicles, flea market vendors, and car sales must complete a registration form, pay the entry fee, and arrive to the event between 8:30 -11 a.m.  No latecomers will gain entrance. All fees are non-refundable.
