According to Council President Gabe Albornoz, “Rice didn’t  suffer any serious injuries and will be released from the hospital today.”

Albornoz made the announcement at today’s County Council meeting, which was the first time the council held an in-person meeting since March 2020.

Rice is currently the District 2 representative on the County Council.

Per Montgomery County:

Craig Rice was first elected to the Montgomery County Council in November 2010, at the time becoming the youngest African American ever to serve on the nine-member Council and the second African American man to serve in that role. In December 2013, his colleagues elected Craig to serve as president of the Council. In 2014 and again in 2018, he was re-elected to a four-year term on the Council.
