It has been over two years since we let you know that True Food Kitchen would be taking the place of Joe’s Crab Shack in Rio.
True Food Kitchen has a 10:30am hearing on January 6th, 2022 with Alcohol Beverage Services, to obtain a license to sell alcohol at the new location (221 Rio Boulevard, Suite 0221, Gaithersburg, MD 20878).
Originally slated for a late 2020 opening, we spoke with a team member back in March who told us the restaurant would not open until 2022. In September, Rio doubled down on the timeframe as they advertised a Spring 2022 arrival for the restaurant.
True Food Kitchen has also shared that Spring 2022 is the current projection, so it looks like the wait is down to just a few months.
True Food Kitchen is a health-focused restaurant chain with 23 locations in 10 U.S. states (most locations in California and Texas).
The restaurant focuses on serving healthy, seasonal, sustainable, and organic food with plenty of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options.
This will be the second MoCo location, with the first being at 7100 Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda.
