NBC4 meteorologist Chuck Bell is raising expectations for a prolonged shutdown across the region as a major winter storm bears down on the DC area, saying he does not believe a single school district in the DMV will be open for even one day next week. Montgomery County Public Schools announced that all MCPS-sponsored activities may continue today but are expected to conclude by 9 pm due to anticipated winter weather. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning from 11pm Saturday through 4am Monday. Forecasters say a combination of heavy snow, sleet, freezing rain, and bitter cold will create dangerous conditions that could linger well into next week.
