The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Washington, DC, most of Maryland, and much of Virginia from 11pm Saturday through 4am Monday, calling for a widespread 7 to 14 inches of snow across the warning area. Governor Wes Moore today declared a State of Emergency due to the major winter storm and dangerously cold temperatures expected to impact Maryland beginning Saturday. Panelists from companies in all stages of the value chain spectrum included Dr. Andrew Lees, Founder of Fina Biosolutions, Benjamin Moutier, Senior Vice-President, Vaccines and Immune Therapies at AstraZeneca, Dr. Helen Sabzevari President & CEO of Precigen, and Dr. Frederick Holtsberg, Chief Scientific Officer of Integrated BioTherapeutics.
This end-to-end capability in close geographical proximity gives companies a unique advantage and is rare to find in other markets, even established ones like San Francisco and Boston. The Maryland Attorney General’s Office has identified the man who died following a police response in Silver Spring last month, along with the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) officers involved, as an independent investigation into the incident continues. MCPD had issued a statement in response to the AG’s office investigation.
