Clarksburg

  On Sunday, July 31, 2022, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Amesha Blunt left her residence in the 23100 block of Persimmon Ridge Rd. in Clarksburg.

Blunt is 5-feet, 3-inches tall and weighs 300 lbs. She has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black long sleeve shirt, black pants and white tennis shoes. Police and family are concerned for her welfare.


Crime

The Takoma Park Police Criminal Investigations Division is actively investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at about 11:05 am. The victim Nurhusen Hamid was working as a mobile mechanic on the Advanced Auto Store parking lot located at 6300 New Hampshire Avenue, Takoma Park, Montgomery County, Maryland.

 


Silver Spring

In 2021, Black/African American women accounted for 43 percent of all fetal and infant losses in Montgomery County, although they represented approximately 20 percent of all births in the County—an indication of ongoing disparities in birth outcomes. Losses among Black women continue to account for one-third or more of all losses in the County.

The event is scheduled during National Breastfeeding Month and will offer information on breastfeeding and include activities for children, refreshments and random prizes. The keynote speaker will be Lima Redhead, MD, a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist.


Maryland

Governor Larry Hogan today announced that the State of Maryland has submitted its 2022 American Rescue Plan, State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) Annual Performance Report to the U.S. Department of the Treasury. The report—which details expenditures from March 3, 2021 through June 30, 2022 and includes planned allocations for Fiscal Year 2023—describes the use of the funds allocated to the state through the American Rescue Plan (ARP). Read the report.

Gaithersburg

The new Dunkin/Baskin Robbins located in the recently renovated Rock Grove Center on the corner of 355 and Shady Grove relocated back on Monday, July 25. The new location in on the back side of the shopping center at the old United Bank location at 16268 Frederick Rd. On Thursday, August 4th, the store will be holding its grand opening.

MoCo Government

The “sign sweep” will take place on County-maintained roads and at intersections with State highways. DPS will not be removing signs from private property.

DPS Zoning and Code Compliance Manager Greg Nichols said inspectors will be forming teams to target assigned areas around the County.


Damascus

Jacob Maxim Loethen was last seen on Friday, July 29, 2022, in the 27200 block of Ridge Rd.

Loethen is approximately 5-feet, 1-inch tall and weighs 90 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing black rimmed glasses, a grey ‘NASA’ T-shirt, red shorts and royal blue tennis shoes.


Traffic

A vehicle fire has reduced travel lanes on southbound I-279 near exits 8 and 9 with fire trucks and EMS currently on the scene. There are no injuries and travel lanes have been reduced, but should reopen soon. No word yet on what caused the fire and vehicle is a total loss.
