For nearly a decade, Churchill football had struggled to get over the hump against Northwest. The Bulldogs had dropped eight of their last nine meetings with the Jaguars, including a heart-breaking 21–20 loss the last time these two clashed. But on Friday night in Germantown, Churchill rewrote the script in dramatic fashion.

MoCo Government

Montgomery County was awarded more than $2.1 million in Maryland Energy Administration grants during the first half of 2025 to fund clean energy, energy efficiency, and electric vehicle charging projects, with annual savings projected at $214,000 and reductions of nearly 1 million kilowatt-hours of electricity and over 500 tons of greenhouse gas emissions. K BAP Express is now serving customers at 121B Congressional Lane, in the space that was most recently home to Pines of Rome Express. the carry-out and delivery focused offshoot of the beloved Bethesda Italian restaurant Closed its doors after less than two years in business.

Burtonsville

Burtonsville residents and visitors are invited to mark their calendars for the 32nd annual Burtonsville Day, a beloved community tradition set to take place on Saturday, September 20th. This year’s celebration promises a full day of fun, food, and community spirit at the Marilyn J. Praisner Library & Community Rec Center. Business

Human BioSciences Inc., a longtime Gaithersburg-based biotech company specializing in wound-care products, is preparing to close its headquarters later this year. According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice filed with the state of Maryland, the company will shutter its site at 940 Clopper Road and relocate operations to West Virginia effective November 5.

Beyond MoCo

Shoppers at a Maryland Walmart on Monocacy Boulevard in Frederick have recently been greeted by a heartfelt memorial honoring the life of longtime associate Michael Colwell. The tribute, placed near the entrance of the store, features framed photos, candles, flowers, and a written message celebrating Colwell’s life and service.
