Governor Wes Moore is urging Marylanders to prepare for potential flash flooding and severe storms expected this afternoon and evening, with the highest risk along the I-95 corridor and upper Eastern Shore, as all counties except Garrett and Allegany are under a flood watch.
In the early hours of Thursday, July 31, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue. The incident, reported at approximately 12:09am, occurred in the area of the Red Carpet Inn in Takoma Park.

An active shooter report at Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda this morning was quickly resolved after the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) determined the individual was carrying a plastic training rifle. The incident, which prompted a significant police response, was found to have no malicious intent, and the individual is not being charged.

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) responded to a domestic disturbance on Saturday, July 26, 2025, in the 19900 block of Stoney Point Way in Germantown, where a man was reportedly threatening to kill his child. Chief Antonio DeVaul of the Takoma Park Police Department has announced the arrests of 18-year-old Mario Collins and a 16-year-old male juvenile, both from Washington DC. The arrests are in connection with a stolen vehicle, the possession of a stolen handgun, and the assault on police officers.
