The future of the Washington Commanders’ new stadium at the RFK campus in Washington, D.C., is moving forward with significant developments. The D.C. Council is set to vote on the RFK campus legislation on Friday, August 1, 2025, after reaching a “much-improved agreement” with the Commanders. This vote could pave the way for the team’s return to its historic home.
The Montgomery County Council is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy as its designee on the Human Trafficking Prevention Committee, with applications due by 5 p.m. on August 25, 2025, to serve the remainder of a term ending October 31, 2026.
Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) Major Crimes Division have arrested and charged two teenagers with an attempted strong-arm carjacking that occurred on Saturday, May 24, 2025, in the 8800 block of Rockville Pike in Bethesda.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were dispatched to the 7100 block of Blanchard Drive in Derwood on Thursday morning for a reported drowning.
According to MCFRS spokesperson David Pazos, upon arrival, crews found an adult male in cardiac arrest. Firefighters and paramedics initiated aggressive CPR and advanced life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, the man could not be resuscitated.

Landon School, located at 6101 Wilson Ln. in Bethesda, recently shared that Jim Neill has decided to step down as Head of School following the 2025-2026 academic year. The Board of Trustees and the Head of School Search Committee announced that Dr. Andrew “Andy” Martire will join Landon School as our next Head of School beginning July 1, 2026. Martire shared, “”I’m truly honored to have the opportunity to lead Landon School. It is a school that has rich and meaningful traditions, and at the same time a commitment to excellence in educating boys.”
The Flavor Hive, co-founded by social media sensation Shihan Chowdhury (known as “Chilipeppercooks“) and Amgd Gende, has captured the hearts and palates of diners across the DMV area, leading to the soft opening of its first brick and mortar restaurant at 4260 John Marr Dr. in Annandale, VA on Thursday, July 24th. The City of Gaithersburg started planning for its newest park last year, a 2.99 acre parcel located at the corner of Decoverly Drive and Steinbeck Avenue in Crown. The park will occupy a portion of the original 175-acre property that was annexed into the City in 2006. While the parcel is a generous size, after accounting for required easements and stream valley buffers, the usable park space will be about 1.5 acres.
