Detectives from the Gaithersburg Police Department – Investigative Section have arrested 32-year-old Louis Jeffery Hanley of Olney, MD. He faces charges of first-degree assault, firearm use in a violent crime, and reckless endangerment stemming from an incident that took place last December in Gaithersburg’s Downtown Crown neighborhood.

Last April we let you know that local restaurant group Moby Dick House of Kabob signed on to open a new restaurant in Potomac’s Cabin John Village (11325 Seven locks Road Suite 180, Potomac MD 20854). The new location is adjacent to Colony Grill on the back side of the shopping center and officially opens on Wednesday, March 26th.

Montgomery County’s 2025 rent stabilization rent increase allowance will be 5.7%, effective July 1, which is lower than the 2024 allowance of 6%. The Rent Stabilization law, which applies to most rental units built in 2002 or earlier, adjusts rent increases annually based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI-U) and also regulates certain fees, with the 2025 Voluntary Rent Guideline set at 3.3%.

Nearly ten years ago, on May 19, 2015, the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) announced a significant change to the in-vehicle skills test for obtaining a Class C non-commercial driver’s license, which is the most common type of driver’s license in the state. The MVA removed parallel parking from the list of required test elements, a decision that has been in effect statewide for nearly a decade.

On Wednesday, March 26, Jersey Mike’s Subs will donate 100% of its sales—expected to exceed $25 million—to over 200 local charities as part of its 15th Annual Day of Giving. This event, the culmination of the Month of Giving campaign, has helped Jersey Mike’s raise more than $113 million for charities since 2011. Jersey Mike’s has nine locations in Montgomery County.
