Kian Dhawan, a student at Montgomery Blair High School, earned a gold medal at the 2025 USA Biolympiad National Finals held at Harvard University, placing him among the top four students who will represent the United States at the International Biology Olympiad in the Philippines. Located at 820 Muddy Branch Rd. in Gaithersburg’s Muddy Branch Square, Royal Tandoor has been turning heads since it opened its doors in May 2021. Taking over the space previously occupied by the short-lived River Side Hot Pot, the restaurant has quickly become a local favorite. Photos and videos of the experience below.
On July 17, the Montgomery County Council’s Education and Culture Committee will receive a briefing on MCPS academic performance and review grading policy changes, while the Government Operations and Fiscal Policy Committee will review legislation related to internet access service procurement and retirement system eligibility. The discussions will cover the transition to Maryland State Report Card data, updates to grading regulations, and proposed bills affecting County contracting and employee retirement groups.

Jamie has written extensively on this topic and draws from a life-long career in journalism, including his time at the Pentagon on 9/11.

This festival highlights local artisans including wood creations, pottery, visual art, household products and so much more. We also have food trucks from El Parente Tacos, El Jeffe Wood-fired pizzas, Bruster’s Ice Cream and beverages from Saints Row Brewery. Bring the whole family because we have a kids activity area too. Pets on a leash are welcome too!
The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is offering free back-to-school vaccinations for children in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade who live in the County and are missing required immunizations. A 24-year-old from Brooklyn, NY was sentenced in Montgomery County Circuit Court to 10 years in prison, with all but 26 months suspended, for involvement in a theft scheme targeting elderly victims in Bethesda, after pleading guilty to conspiracy and attempted theft charges.
