Council is set to vote on the RFK campus legislation on Friday, August 1, 2025, after reaching a “much-improved agreement” with the Commanders. This vote could pave the way for the team’s return to its historic home.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) Major Crimes Division have arrested and charged two teenagers with an attempted strong-arm carjacking that occurred on Saturday, May 24, 2025, in the 8800 block of Rockville Pike in Bethesda.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were dispatched to the 7100 block of Blanchard Drive in Derwood on Thursday morning for a reported drowning.
According to MCFRS spokesperson David Pazos, upon arrival, crews found an adult male in cardiac arrest. Firefighters and paramedics initiated aggressive CPR and advanced life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, the man could not be resuscitated.

Hopinka contributed to the exhibition catalog for Water’s Edge: The Art of Truman Lowe, writing on Lowe’s lasting impact on his work. Hopinka joins the museum for this special after hours event featuring a screening of three of his short video works followed by a discussion with Rebecca Head Trautmann, Assistant Curator of Contemporary Art and exhibition curator, along with art-making activities, and time to enjoy Lowe’s work currently on view. Sky Hopinka has been widely recognized for his experimental short films and photo-based works. A MacArthur Fellow, Guggenheim Fellow, and Forge Project Fellow, his work has been shown in major film festivals, museums, and international exhibitions and is in numerous prominent museum collections. Hopinka is currently an assistant professor in the department of Art, Film, and Visual Studies at Harvard University.

Landon School, located at 6101 Wilson Ln. in Bethesda, recently shared that Jim Neill has decided to step down as Head of School following the 2025-2026 academic year. The Board of Trustees and the Head of School Search Committee announced that Dr. Andrew “Andy” Martire will join Landon School as our next Head of School beginning July 1, 2026. The City of Gaithersburg started planning for its newest park last year, a 2.99 acre parcel located at the corner of Decoverly Drive and Steinbeck Avenue in Crown. The park will occupy a portion of the original 175-acre property that was annexed into the City in 2006. While the parcel is a generous size, after accounting for required easements and stream valley buffers, the usable park space will be about 1.5 acres.
