Governor Wes Moore announced that 43 Maryland businesses received a total of $5 million in grants through the Maryland Manufacturing 4.0 program to invest in Industry 4.0 technologies and modernize operations. The initiative, administered by the Maryland Department of Commerce, supports businesses across 17 jurisdictions and is set to receive increased funding in the governor’s proposed budget for FY2026.

Crime

The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) has expanded eligibility for the Police-Private Security Camera Program, allowing all county locations to participate by installing and registering security cameras to help deter and solve crimes. Residents, businesses, and nonprofits may be eligible to receive reimbursements for the purchase and installation of the cameras.

Crime

According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, Javier Reyes, 23, of Silver Spring was sentenced to 50 years in prison suspending all but 30 to serve and five years of supervised probation upon release. Reyes was convicted by a jury in December on charges of second-degree felony murder and use of a handgun in a crime of violence for the death of 20-year-old Walter Woods of Takoma Park. (more…)


Burtonsville

Buffalo Wild Wings introduced its first ‘Buffalo Wild Wings GO’ (BWWGO) location, a scaled-down version of the restaurant that focuses on the to-go and delivery format, in Georgia back in 2020. Now, the company has signed on for its third location in the county– in Burtonsville.

On Tuesday, Attorney General Anthony G. Brown and other attorneys general urged the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources to support S.J. Res. 10, which would end the national energy emergency declared by President Trump. They argue that U.S. energy production is at record highs, the grid is stable, and extreme weather—not fossil fuel shortages—poses the greatest risk to energy reliability. (more…)
