The Wheaton High School Society of Women Engineers (SWE) achieved an impressive 3rd place finish out of 38 international teams at the 2025 UAE Electric Vehicle Grand Prix, a team member reported today. This event provided SWE with a valuable opportunity to collaborate with high school teams from four different countries.

Hangry Joe’s at 19290 Montgomery Village Ave in the Montgomery Village Shopping Center has reopened. The restaurant had been closed for the past week with a “closed” sign posted on the front door covering the store’s hours of operation. We spoke to someone at the location who was unablenprovide an explanation for last week’s closure.
When I moved back to Northern Virginia after several years in New York, most of my old friends had moved away. I found myself rebuilding a social circle from scratch.
I had plenty of people I could connect with online, but that wasn’t translating into anyone to grab a beer with after work, play trivia with, or text when I wanted to get out of the house. Making new friends as an adult required far more deliberate effort than I remembered.

Maryland Attorney General Anthony G. Brown joined a coalition of 23 attorneys general opposing efforts by the Trump administration and Elon Musk to defund and dismantle the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), warning that its removal would harm consumers and weaken financial oversight. The coalition filed an amicus brief arguing that shutting down the CFPB would reduce protections against fraud, unfair banking practices, and predatory lending.
Montgomery County Council and committees will meet on February 24, 2025, to discuss state legislation, review the implementation of menstrual hygiene product requirements and student health programs at Montgomery County Public Schools, and assess the FY26 Capital Budget and amendments to the FY25-30 Capital Improvements Program for culture and recreation projects. Work continues on the Takoma Park Library and Community Center Redevelopment Project. Much of the work has moved indoors and is minimally affected by the snow and ice, but some work continues outdoors. The City of Takoma Park has shared some recent advances in the project:
