Shibuya Eatery, the popular Japanese concept from chef Darren Lee Norris, has moved into Montgomery County with a new Chevy Chase location. The restaurant, described as “Shibuya 2.0,” according to Axios, opened Tuesday at 4461 Willard Avenue.

ABC’s 20/20 recently revisited a Montgomery County case that haunted the Chevy Chase community for more than two decades– the 2001 murder of 49-year-old Leslie Preer. The episode, titled “First Comes Love, Then Comes Murder,” walked through how advances in DNA technology helped bring long-awaited closure to Preer’s family. The episode premiered on Sept. 12th at and is now available to stream on Hulu and Disney Plus.

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) shared the following information regarding police presence at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School at 2:29pm on Thursday: “There is currently a police presence at Bethesda Chevy Chase High School for what appears to be a swatting call at the school. MCPS has not placed the school on lockdown.”

Eugene Gligor, 45, of Washington, D.C., was sentenced to 30 years in prison, with 22 to serve and five years of supervised probation after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the 2001 killing of Leslie Preer in Chevy Chase, a case solved in 2024 through forensic genetic genealogical DNA analysis.
