The National Football League announced today that Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 3. Not only did his impressive showing on Monday night earn him the award, but it also earned him some praise from New York Jets quarterback and future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers.

Earlier this month the Washington Spirit signed rookie Makenna Morris to a new one-year contract through the 2025 season. Morris, who was born and raised in Germantown, MD and grew up playing for Bethesda Soccer Club, joined the Spirit on a one-year deal earlier this year after being selected with the 13th overall pick in the 2024 NWSL Draft.

“DMV see yall Sunday” Wale posted on Twitter/X Thursday night. Olubowale Victor Akintimehin, better known as Wale, was born in Northwest, Washington, D.C. and raised in various parts of the DMV (graduating from Quince Orchard High School) will be performing at halftime of the Washington Commanders home opener against the New York Giants on Sunday.

The Washington Commanders have released their initial 53-man roster, which is subject to change as the team could sign free agents released by other teams and release additional players. ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter has reported that the Washington Commanders and Northwest Federal Credit Union are “announcing an exclusive naming-rights agreement for the team’s stadium. The team will usher in a new era at Northwest Stadium for its Sept. 15th home opener against the New York Giants.”
