Wes Moore announced the appointment of the Honorable Victor Manuel Del Pino to the Montgomery County Circuit Court, elevating a longtime county prosecutor and district court judge to the circuit bench. Judge Del Pino, a lifelong Montgomery County resident, has served as a district court judge since 2019 and previously held leadership roles in the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office. Pepco announced a $1.5 million expansion of its Customer Relief Fund in partnership with the Salvation Army to support eligible customers in the District and Montgomery and Prince George’s counties, bringing the company’s total direct energy affordability assistance to $6.5 million over the past year with additional funding from parent company Exelon.

Updated to reflect adult woman was struck and killed by hit and run driver.

Montgomery County Police 3rd District officers were dispatched at 6:39pm, to the intersection of Columbia Pike and Fairland Road in Silver Spring (Fairland) for a traffic collision that has killed an adult female pedestrian.


The Montgomery County Council will meet Tuesday, Jan. 13, beginning with proclamations recognizing Muslim American Heritage Month and Korean American Day, followed by interviews for board and labor relations appointments and consideration of budget guidelines for the FY27 operating budget.

Montgomery County Public Libraries announced a change to Sunday service that will take effect starting Jan. 11, 2026, reducing the number of branches open on Sundays as part of what MCPL says is an effort to ensure consistent staffing, sustainable operations, and enhanced programming for the community.
