The National Weather Service Weather Prediction Center (@NWSWPC), based out of College Park, MD, has increased confidence in a storm that could bring impactful winter weather to the Mid-Atlantic and parts of the Northeast.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has increased chances of a storm to an “Enhanced Winter Storm Threat” for Sunday, January 7th for much of the DC Metro area, including half of Montgomery County, Loudoun County, half of Howard County, Frederick County and more. Per the NWS, this means “increased potential of more significant travel impacts and more closures.”

The National Weather Service (NWS) has labeled January 6th and 7th as a “Slight Winter Storm Threat” for the possibility of wintry weather during the time frame for parts of the DMV, including half of Montgomery County.
