The flip from rain to snow started earlier than initially anticipated, allowing for heavier bursts of snow to accumulate even though ground temps were well above freezing. The precipitation also cooled things faster/more than anticipated, bringing temps to around freezing (or below) for many in the area.

All of Montgomery County and some surrounding areas are now under a Flood Watch today (Sunday, December 10th) from 1pm through late tonight. Temperatures will dip, making it possible that the storm ends with snow Monday morning.

We have a Flood Watch in effect from Sunday afternoon through late Sunday night for SE Montgomery County, DC, SE Howard County, Prince George’s County and most of Northern Va. that could end with some flakes early Monday morning.
